Natural History of the Enigma, transgenic flower with artist’s own DNA, 2003/2008

Mostly known for his fluorescent rabbit that made art hit the news pages back in 2000, Eduardo Kac now is part of his own work of art. His Natural History of  the Enigma is a transgenic flower created using the artist’s DNA, represented on the red veins in its petals. This touches so many modern issues that is hard to start listing. Edunia, the flower, will be shown together with a large sculpture, drawings and seeds at the Weissman At Museum, opening April 17th.
